Build Your Wardrobe, 1 piece 4 ways

I heart remixes…

whatiwore:

WhatIWore: When I saw this dress in store, I breezed right past it and when the sales gal suggested it and put it in my dressing room I didn’t think I would even try it on. But I did and I love it. A wrap dress is a classic piece for any woman’s wardrobe. It is also one of the more flattering styles to a range of body shapes and sizes.

The goal of this post isn’t to show you 4 outfits that are totally blaringly different - it’s to show you how a wardrobe staple can go from casual to professional to happy hour or to the beach.

LOOK ONE: CASUAL
Sometimes fabrications can be confusing - especially for what dresses pair with sneakers. This dress is cotton (and a little bit of shape flattering Lycra), which is ideal to dress up or down in spring/summer/fall. I love denim jackets (another staple for me) because they instantly make an outfit a little more approachable. LOFT has one you can check out.  A bright colored, chunky necklace adds a playful vibe.

LOOK TWO: OFFICE
Back in my office days, I would sometimes wear the same wrap dress twice a week.  I love how a crisp blazer makes this outfit feel like it’s time for business!  Depending on your figure, I also suggest layering a camisole underneath if the neckline is too low for you.  Basic black pumps complete the look.

LOOK THREE: HAPPY HOUR
I love work dresses that really work from day to night. And from what I’ve heard, I’m not the only woman that used to store extra high high heels under her desk either! A statement necklace and bronze bag make it feel like 5 o’clock somewhere!

LOOK FOUR: BEACH BOUND
This is the kind of outfit I imagine would be perfect after a day at the beach. With a little bit of a tan and a fresh shower, this cool blue and green ensemble (plus gold wedges) would be perfect for hitting up a little beach town dive bar or waterfront restaurant. Let me also tell you: scarves are so under rated! They are my favorite accessory for a little extra color or coverage on an outfit.  This green ombre version is silk, which makes it feel a little extra special.
